Register by December 14: Remote Holiday Open House
Time is running out to register for the Holiday Open House, hosted by GFWC International President Marian St.Clair. This remote celebration will welcome you into the historic GFWC Headquarters in Washington, DC, to experience a bit of holiday magic! Inspired by the 2020 holiday theme, What a Wonderful World, the home’s entry and entertainment areas feature a sparkling winter wonderland accented with woodland wildlife. See the holiday transformation of 1734 N Street, hear about a few of the President’s special embellishments, and learn more about the history of our beautiful building.

Help Heifer Provide Transformational Change
Heifer International began in 1944 by delivering livestock to people in countries decimated by World War II, including Hope the cow, who was given to an orphanage in Poland on Christmas Day!

Techie’s Tips: Ensure You Receive GFWC Emails
Email systems do their best to route the email that you want to your inbox and to place undesired messages in a spam folder. However, systems sometimes make mistakes and could mark News & Notes or other GFWC communications as spam, requiring you to dig through your spam folder to get important GFWC information.
Ensure your local email account settings approve GFWC@GFWC.org as a sender or “whitelist” emails received ending in “@GFWC.org.” Here are a few ways to make sure GFWC’s emails aren’t blocked.
Add Our Email Address to Your Contact List
Create a new contact for GFWC. If you add GFWC@GFWC.org to your email contact list, it will deliver any emails from that address to your inbox instead of your spam.
Unmark Our Emails as Spam
If you’ve received News & Notes or other GFWC correspondence in your spam folder, go to one of those emails and mark us as a safe sender.
Don’t miss out on important communications from GFWC: whitelist our email today! If you’ve tried the above and are not receiving GFWC emails, contact your email system’s customer service.
Maximize Your Contribution
Did you know that GFWC is able to receive donations of stock? You can maximize your contribution to GFWC and reap some well-deserved tax benefits for yourself by donating your appreciated stock. A direct transfer of appreciated stock is significantly greater than if you were to sell the shares and donate the proceeds. Donating your stock allows you to avoid paying the capital gains tax—a benefit even for those who don’t itemize. And many states no longer allow for the deduction of capital gains taxes on your state returns!
To apply these benefits to the current tax year, stock transfers must be completed by December 31. Be sure to speak with your broker to learn if this is the right giving option for you. To make a stock donation to GFWC, please contact Metou Balde, GFWC’s Director of Finance, today!
State President’s Project: Florence Diede, Montana
Have you lost someone as a result of death by suicide? GFWC Montana President’s Special Project is “Suicide Prevention Through Education.” The World Population Review recently reported that Montana is the state with the highest suicide rate.
Each club has members, family members, and friends who are dealing directly and indirectly with death or attempted death by suicide. Clubwomen and citizens of Montana need to know how to ask this hard question: “Are you thinking of taking your life?” It is then critical to know how to respond when the answer is “Yes,” and when it is “No.”
Each club has been provided with an abundance of pamphlets and information. In addition, www.GFWCMontana.org lists websites, TED Talks, speakers, and the 2020-2021 scheduled suicide prevention activities. GFWC Montana is asking clubs to have a program focused on suicide prevention once each year. A one-time $50 grant is available to help defray any costs a club may incur should it host a walk, print and distribute materials, or pay a speaker.
“Death by suicide,” the preferred terminology among field experts, is language that we all should adopt today (if not already using it). GFWC Montana is eager to participate in educating its members and communities about suicide prevention.

We recommend placing any orders ornament orders by Monday, December 14. There have been reports of mail service delays in many communities throughout the United States. GFWC staff is processing Marketplace orders as quickly as possible, but Headquarters is still operating with limited staff onsite daily.
