GFWC Urges Congress to Enact VAWA Reauthorization
March 4, 2022
With enough bipartisan support to pass the Senate, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Reauthorization bill, S. 3623, negotiated by Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Dick Curbin (D-IL), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is ready for floor action. GFWC and GFWC State Federations joined the National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence by signing a VAWA National Sign On Letter, signed by 740 local, state, tribal, national, and international organizations dedicated to ending domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. According to a recent survey of voters, data showed that reauthorizing VAWA is a top priority for 90%+ of American voters and should receive strong bipartisan support in Congress. Unfortunately, floor time is limited, so we need to advocate for immediate action!
