Hope for Justice

Human Trafficking in the United States: The Truth and What You Can Do About It
St. Charles Ballroom
Human trafficking is a crime that involves the exploitation of a person for labor, services, or commercial sex. Victims are unable to leave their situation of exploitation and are controlled by threats, punishment, violence, coercion, and deception. It is happening all around us, with an estimated 24.9 million victims globally and 403,000 people affected right here in the U.S. Hope for Justice is an international non-profit working to bring an end to human trafficking; to prevent exploitation, rescue victims, and provide the best possible aftercare. You can be a part of ending human trafficking by learning how to spot the signs. Knowing what to look out for, and what to do if you suspect someone might be in danger could make a life-changing difference. We know because we have seen how reports from everyday people, turn into rescues. Join us at the Hope for Justice Affiliate workshop to learn more about human trafficking, how to spot the signs, and mobilize action in the fight for freedom.

UNICEF USA

Accelerate to Meet the Sustainable Development Goals for Children with the Joint Investment Mechanism
Grand Salon
The challenges facing children have never been more complex. Despite comprising one-third of the global population, children represent half of those struggling to survive on less than $1.90 a day. An estimated 365 million children live in extreme poverty. Given the multiple setbacks resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, now is the moment to make critical investments to overcome gaps and get the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) back on track. UNICEF, along with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, established the Joint Investment Mechanism (JIM) to work hand in hand with governments to make significantly accelerated progress towards achieving the SDGs. Through GFWC’s new commitment to UNICEF USA through the JIM, members will be supporting UNICEF’s efforts to 1) end preventable maternal and child deaths, 2) accelerate gains of maternal and childhood nutrition, 3) increase cognitive development outcomes, and 4) improve adolescent health and well-being. In this workshop, GFWC members will learn more about the program and how they can raise awareness and crucial funds for children in Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Kenya through the JIM. We will also touch on the impact GFWC members have had on UNICEF’s ongoing work in Ukraine and surrounding countries to help children and families impacted by the current situation.
