GFWC Marlton Woman’s Club
The GFWC Marlton Woman’s Club (New Jersey) has 41 members who are always trying to put a smile on the faces of others. President Lisa Levin said, “My goal has always been to work together as a club, making our members shine, and making a significant difference in the lives of others.” She also encourages leadership and engagement by motivating members to be a chairperson or to be part of a committee.
The club is adept at making connections in their community to increase their impact. Their spring and fall bingo events have baskets, prizes, and a Dining Around Town raffle— which is made possible by the group of local restaurants that donate gift certificates. The club also has a shopping event at a local women’s boutique where the owner generously provides food and gives back 20% of total sales for the evening. The club takes the 20% to purchase jewelry and accessories from the store so they can raffle the items off at their spring bingo event. Additionally, they have two events at local restaurants where the owners donate back 20% of the sales for the evening to the club. This serves as a great way for new and older members to get to know each other while both sharing dinner and fundraising!
The club also enjoys their annual Cookie Pack in February. Members bring baked cookies and candy to fill up cellophane bags. Then they tie them with a red ribbon and attach a message that says, “Happy Valentine’s Day from the Marlton Woman’s Club”. They hand deliver the treats to nursing home residents at their Valentine luncheon. Members have pink t-shirts with their club name and logo, and they wear them proudly at events like that to be a united front and to get their name out to their community!
